Vacation photography for two
Puerto Vallarta Couples Photographer
Natural, relaxed vacation photography for couples visiting Puerto Vallarta.
Check AvailabilityA couples photo session in Puerto Vallarta starts at $164 USD in low season and $199 USD from November through April. Sessions run 60 minutes for one location or 90 minutes to move between two or three. No posing experience is needed; the photographer directs throughout the session. You receive every usable photo, typically more than a hundred images, within 72 business hours. The best light is early morning, around 7 to 8 AM, or late afternoon, around 6 to 7 PM.

Designed for Couples
Whether you're celebrating an anniversary, on your honeymoon, or simply taking a romantic escape together, this is a session built around the two of you. No large group to manage, no schedule to keep — just an hour on the Pacific coast, photographed the way it actually felt.
Most of the couples I photograph are visiting Puerto Vallarta for a few days and want something better than phone photos to take home. You don't need experience in front of a camera, and you don't need to plan anything beyond telling me when you're free.
Planning to propose during your trip? That's a different session with different preparation — see surprise proposal photography.
Couples Photography in Puerto Vallarta
Your vacation is made up of moments worth keeping. I photograph couples across Puerto Vallarta and the Riviera Nayarit in a natural, documentary style — soft light, real reactions, and none of the stiffness of a traditional posed shoot.
How the Session Works
1. Choose Your Date
Tell me when you will be in Puerto Vallarta and we will find the time of day that gives us the best light. If you are here for an anniversary or honeymoon, mention it — it changes what I look for during the session.
2. Pick a Location Together
We choose from the locations below based on the look you want and how much time you have. If you are staying at a hotel with beach access, that can work too.
3. Enjoy a Relaxed Session
You do not need to know how to pose. I guide you the whole way, and most couples stop thinking about the camera within the first ten minutes.
4. Receive Your Edited Gallery
Every usable photo from the session is professionally edited and delivered in an online gallery within 72 business hours.
Best Locations for Couples Photos in Puerto Vallarta
These are the places I actually shoot, and what each one is genuinely like — including how busy they get. Choosing well is most of what makes a session work, so if you're unsure, tell me the look you're after and I'll recommend one.
Playa del Holi
An easy-access beach beside the mouth of the Río Pitillal, and one of my regular choices for couples who do not want a long drive. It is genuinely popular with locals, so on weekends and during holiday weeks it can get busy — I will be straightforward about that. It also has several spots that photograph beautifully, and knowing where they are is most of the job.
Malecón
The one location that gives you both looks in a single session. Along the boardwalk downtown we can photograph the sculptures, the architecture, and the color of the city; then we walk to the beach just south of the Malecón, which opens onto a lovely view and is very easy to reach. If you want your photos to say Puerto Vallarta rather than generic beach, this is the place.
Zona Romántica
Another beach that both locals and visitors love, which means it is rarely empty. That is not the obstacle people expect: even on a busy afternoon there are pockets that work very well, and part of what you are paying for is someone who already knows where they are and how to frame around a crowd.
La Cruz de Huanacaxtle
Outside the Puerto Vallarta area, in the Riviera Nayarit, with a wide and genuinely pleasant beach. The extra travel buys you space — there is far more room here than on the city beaches, which matters if you want photos that feel unhurried and private. Worth considering if you are already staying north of the airport.
The Southern Beaches
Colomitos, Madagascar, Playa Caballos, Las Ánimas and their neighbors are only reachable by boat, and every one of them is beautiful — jungle running straight down to clear water, with no road behind you. The honest caveat: this takes planning. We need extra time to coordinate with the boat operators and confirm your transport both ways, so it is not something we can arrange the same day.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a couples photo session last?
The most popular option is 60 minutes, which is comfortable for one location and gives us time to warm up without anyone getting tired. If you want to move through the city and combine a few settings — the boardwalk, the streets, and then the beach — I recommend 90 minutes instead. Rushing a two-location session into an hour is the one thing I would steer you away from.
How many photos will I receive, and how soon?
I deliver every usable photo from the session rather than a fixed number, which usually comes out to more than a hundred images. I do not promise an exact count, because the honest answer depends on how the session goes — but nobody has ever run short. Delivery is within 72 business hours at the latest, in an online gallery you can download from and share.
Do we need to know how to pose?
No, and most couples who book me have never done a photo session before. I guide you throughout — where to stand, where to look, what to do with your hands — so there is nothing to prepare or practice. What usually happens is that the first few minutes feel a little self-conscious, and then you forget the camera is there. Those later frames are almost always the best ones.
What should we wear for a beach photo session in Puerto Vallarta?
Light colors are what I see most often and what tends to work best against sand and water — whites, creams, soft neutrals, and gentle pastels. Coordinate with each other rather than matching exactly, since identical outfits tend to flatten the two of you into one shape. Flowing fabrics are worth choosing on purpose: there is almost always a breeze, and movement reads beautifully in photos. The one thing I would avoid is bright neon, which bounces its color onto your skin. Beyond that, the right palette depends on your skin tones and whether we shoot in the cooler morning light or the warm light of late afternoon — tell me your session time and I will give you a specific recommendation.
What is the best time of day for couples photos in Puerto Vallarta?
Early morning, roughly 7 to 8 AM, or late afternoon, roughly 6 to 7 PM. Those windows shift with the season — earlier in winter, later in summer — so we confirm the exact time once we have your date. Morning gives you soft light and beaches that are still nearly empty. Late afternoon gives you the warm, golden light over the Pacific that Puerto Vallarta is known for. Midday is the one time I generally advise against, since the overhead sun creates harsh shadows and the beaches are at their busiest.
Can you photograph us at our hotel or resort?
Yes, as long as access has been confirmed beforehand. Many properties allow outside photographers and some do not, so the step to take is to ask your concierge before your session and let me know what they say. It is easier coming from you than from me — as the paying guest you tend to get a faster and more favorable answer. If your property does not allow it, every location on this page is a good alternative and I will recommend the best one for your dates.
How much does a couples photo session in Puerto Vallarta cost?
Couples sessions currently start at $164 USD, which covers the session itself and the full edited gallery — there is no separate charge per photo. Rates are seasonal and tend to be higher during the November-through-April high season, so the pricing page is always the current one. Longer sessions and multi-location coverage are available if you want something more elaborate.
How far in advance should we book?
Two to three weeks is comfortable, and a little more during the November-through-April high season when dates fill up faster. That said, I have photographed couples who contacted me the day before — if I am not already booked, I can usually make it work. If you are on a short timeline, just message me and I will tell you right away whether your date is open.
What happens if it rains?
You have three options, and the choice is always yours. Most afternoon rain in Puerto Vallarta passes within thirty to sixty minutes, so waiting it out is usually simplest — and the light right after a storm can be extraordinary. If you would rather go ahead in the rain, I can shoot with a weather cover on the camera; I want to be straightforward that this limits me, since I cannot use additional lighting or change lenses while the cover is on, so the images will be simpler than a dry session. And if you prefer a different day, I reschedule at no cost. If your travel dates make rescheduling impossible, I refund you in full.
Ready to Plan Your Photoshoot?
Your vacation is made up of memorable moments, and it's worth capturing its essence. Let's take advantage of a beautiful sunset or the vibrant colors of Puerto Vallarta as a backdrop.
Sessions are limited each month so every couple gets my full attention. Reach out early if you're visiting between November and April.
